Roof Replacement in Plano, Tx

We’re excited to share the details of a recent project: We completed a full roof replacement for a Plano homeowner. Read on to discover the steps we took to enhance their home’s safety and aesthetics.

The Plano homeowner needed a complete roof overhaul due to aging materials and wear. Our mission was to replace the entire roof system, inspect and upgrade all components, and install a new gutter system for optimal water management.

Step-by-Step Process

1. Remove Roof System Down to the Sheathing

We began by stripping the roof down to its sheathing. This allowed us to thoroughly inspect the plywood substrate and replace any damaged sections, ensuring a solid foundation for the new roofing materials.

2. Install New Synthetic Underlayment

Next, we laid down a new synthetic underlayment over the roof field. This modern material provides superior moisture protection compared to traditional felt, enhancing the roof’s longevity.

3. Install New Ice & Water Shield

We added an Ice & Water shield over all valleys and penetrations to prevent water infiltration in vulnerable areas, offering extra protection against leaks.

4. Install New Drip Edge

New drip edges were installed over all eaves and rakes. These components are crucial for directing water away from the fascia and into the gutters, protecting the roof’s edges from water damage.

5. Inspect and Replace Flashing

All existing flashing was inspected, and any damaged pieces were replaced to ensure no water could penetrate at joints and intersections.

6. Install Ridge Cap Shingles

We installed new ridge cap shingles along the roof’s ridges. These shingles not only provide a finished look but also allow for proper ventilation, maintaining roof health.

7. Replace Vents, Pipe Jacks, and Gas Caps

All vents, pipe jacks, and gas caps were replaced to ensure they function correctly and provide optimal protection.

8. Seal All Vents, Penetrations, and Exposed Nails

We sealed all vents, penetrations, and exposed nails with high-quality roofing sealant to ensure a watertight finish.

9. Install OC Oakridge TruDef – Driftwood Shingles

For the roofing material, we installed OC Oakridge TruDef shingles in the Driftwood color. These shingles are known for their durability, enhanced color, and dimensional appearance, providing both protection and aesthetic appeal.

10. Paint Roof Components

Finally, we painted the roof components to match the existing aesthetic, giving the roof a cohesive and polished look.

Gutter Replacement

We also replaced the existing gutters with new 5″ K-style gutters and downspouts (totaling 454 feet) along with the roof. We also replaced the gutter guards (69 feet) to ensure efficient water management and exterior protection.

The Result

The comprehensive roof replacement has transformed the Plano homeowner’s home, providing robust protection and enhancing curb appeal. We ensured long-lasting durability and functionality by addressing every roof component and upgrading the gutter system.
